This is a very good unit; the picture quality is great for the price. I haven't tried the dvd, as this unit is in the kitchen, and mostly used for morning and evening news. The text "crawlers" are clear and the color rendition quite faithful. I have quite a few video systems in the house, and this little one holds its own. Significantly better picture than the 19" Sharp! Yes, it's a bit slow to change channels, but that's one of the price/tech trade-offs of a small, lower cost unit. The sound is adequate for the size, and again, better than the 19" Sharp. The tuner does nest the analog and digital channels, unlike the Sharp which puts all of the digital channels in a higher number region above the analog channels.
