Since I just bought this to replace a space killing CRT model I don't have long-term experience. But so far, the picture is crisp and bright, there's an included DVD player (which I didn't need but oh, well)and its footprint is wee-wee-tiny......on my breakfast counter it is a godsend. I now have room to spread out the morning paper there. I paid close attention to reviews of 15" flat screen TV's and while I think $299 was pretty high for a small screen, the other cheaper no-names seemed to have rotten reviews. I'm trusting in Toshiba's reputation and the reviews. The unit was shipped amazingly fast from AMAZON and is light as a feather.
I'll reserve final judgment for about a year to see how it works then.

This is a nice little unit. I find the picture very clear and the sound is not bad, considering the size of the speakers. Very light and has a very good viewing angle, better than some larger lcd's I've looked at. The built in dvd player is simple and works well and the remote is very intuitive and easy to use. The only downside is you cannot mount this tv to the wall. Because of the dvd player it is not compatable with any of the the existing wall mounts. It has no mounting holes for a wall mount.

If you are looking for a very small LCD TV, this is a nice product. If you have room for a 19", by all means I would go for the larger screen. Keep in mind that, even with the abundance of digital and high def signals out there today, many channels/programs will be broadcast in 4:3 format. Since this TV is a 16:9 profile screen, a 4:3 display will appear that much smaller on this 15.6" screen.

However, if you have a tight space, like on a kitchen counter under cabinets, this TV is perfect. It included a built in DVD player, which is a nice perk. The picture is vivid and HD display on it is excellent. At this size there is absolutely no reason to go for 1080p. For a 15.6" screen, or even a 19", 720p is fine.

We purchased this combination TV and DVD player for our 17' Casita travel trailer. So far, we've only used it in the DVD mode since we camped in remote sites where we do not get TV signals (we do not have satellite capability with our trailer...so unless there is a cable hookup where we camp, the DVD player is our main use). My wife and I choose to get our TV signals over the air with an antenna. So, with the looming switch to digital-only broadcasting, I decided to simply replace an analog Sharp Aquos 13" set with a new, widescreen model. After much research, I chose the Toshiba. I've had some experience with Toshiba products and have no complaints. I wanted a 'brand name' set for reliability concerns.

We've had it for just less than a month and are generally pleased with the set. The move to a digital signal has resulted in a much improved picture over our older Sharp analog LCD. The viewing angle is good, which is important to us as we use this TV on our kitchen table and we sit on opposite sides.

As others have mentioned, channel switching is a bit slow, the set does not swivel vertically and I wish the remote had direct input for a few favorite channels. We have not tried the DVD player and don't plan on much use of this feature.

Amazon shipped this item promptly and we were pleased with the price.

Out of the box to receiving a signal from my rabbit ears was maybe 10 minutes max. Setup was simple. About the only thing I don't like is the delay time when switching channels, but maybe that just comes with the territory with LCD TVs. Programing is a little clumsy - and you only get 4 characters to label channels - but, again, it's what it is and you only do it once. Exactly what I expected to get for the price. Has excellent picture. We use it on our kitchen counter with an HD Antenna. Anticipate we will buy another one or two. I'm far from being a "techie," but within a few minutes of removing this item from the box, plugging it into the wall, and attaching an ordinary coaxial cable, I was commander of a media empire (with nary a glance at the instruction manual). First of all, this thing is remarkably light, compact, and transportable. Even though it was delegated to replace the aging Emerson 13" TV in our kitchen, I can't think of anything I would rather take with me to another room, my desk, or on a trip. As is the case with any flat LCD screen, it doesn't "play" as large as its cathode ray equivalent. (For example, If you want to experience the effect of your old 27" big tube TV, you'll need a 37" LCD display--not just because of aspect ratio but the brighter, more intense, life-like quality that is unique to the "picture-tube" television sets of yore.) So given the shallow profile of this baby, don't be surprised if you find yourself second-guessing whether or not you should have sprung for the 19"-20" model.

Nevertheless, once you've lit up this little Toshiba, chances are you won't want to let it out of your sight. It doesn't have HDMI inputs--just coax, S-Video, and 3-color component video. Yet with a screen this small, clarity and brightness are never an issue. Even with an ordinary coax connection, the images are as crisp and sharply defined as the "enhanced" HD signals at a Best Buy or Sears TV department, the colors are vivid yet complex (just be sure to set it in permanent "Movie" mode--all of the other settings push contrast at the expense of hues and colors).

I have a big Sony flat screen that takes me several minutes to locate the switches, adjust the TV menu, then the set-top box, and by the time I find my way through the plethora of Time-Warner channels, I've missed the opening skit to SNL. The Toshiba

There's no distortion or "canned" quality, though for listening to Bernard Herrmann's score to "Vertigo" (the first DVD I fed the machine), I might give some consideration to using audio "out" for headphones or a hi-fi system. In sum, simplicity, practicality, price and state-of-the-art technology tell me this is a "gadget" to own--if only because it behaves less like a gadget than a utilitarian necessity. We bought this TV to use in our study. The picture is excellent and the small footprint of the TV is perfect on our built in desk top. We like it so much we bought another for a relative in a nursing home. The small footprint made it perfect for her limited space, and the fact that it's digital means she doesn't need the additional digital converter box. She uses it with a Terk antenna, and the combo works well.

The 15" screen was actually larger than I expected. It's great as a secondary TV in a small space where you won't be sitting too far from the TV. Ours faces a window, and we don't have any problem with glare. The picture is still bright and clear, even on sunny days.

The sound is more than adequate. It's not surround sound, but this is a small TV meant for smaller spaces. It doesn't sound tinny...more rich and full. I work in the flat panel display industry. I've seen a few TV's in my career. This TV has excellent video performance- bright crisp image with minimal motion blur while watching moving pictures.

The only improvement (to get the coveted 5th star)I would suggest is to remove the status light from the TV's front bezel. It is slightly annoying to have a large blue "on" status light on the bezel of the active display. The red "off" status light is a little large for my taste too. If the lights were somewhat more dim, I would have no objection.

I'm satisfied enough with the product that I may a second TV for my camper.

This is a very good 15" widescreen LCD. Bought it for the kitchen to save some space and it looks great. 15" is small, and at only 7 lbs, this is a great, compact TV. No complaints other than it can't be mounted on a wall mount, which is pretty ridiculous.

I ordered this taking the chance of this and am dumbfounded that they couldn't put 2 simple holes in the back for a wall mount. I called Toshiba asking them and their reply was "yes, this is our only LCD TV that we didn't install wall mounts on because it is so small on top of it having the DVD player." My reply was to ask how difficult it is to create external connectors for a wall mount (obviously we don't need the engineering of the TV to make room for screws going into the wiring) and anything can hold a little plastic hook for a screw to go into. They just said "no." Pretty lame.

So other than the fact it can't be wall-mounted (and amazon recommends you couple your purchase of this TV WITH a wall mount!), I have no complaints. I just bought this TV for my room. I sat here on my computer and looked through adds for months. Then one day I noticed the deal of the day was this Toshiba. Although you'd be lucky to find this TV for $269.99 it was on the deal of the day for only $199. Even for $269 I think this would be a deal. I probaly wouldn't wait around for it to go back to $199.

Now about this TV, I dont know if its just me or does thi TV look bigger than 15.6''. The built in DVD player is a major pro although I sometimes hook my xbox 360 to it and doen't use it. It also has great features, like picture settings. Theirs also picture tempeture " standard, warm, and cool" which is always fun to mess around with. Every movie, every game has its own temp, not to mention picture size. Just to let you know this TV has the best picture I've ever seen on any TV. When I told my friends they all wanted to try to make fun of it for being 15" but I think its almost better to have a small screen. If you think about it it can go almost anywhere and when you actually get into whatever your watching you can't tell. My point is if your looking for a great TV for bedrooms, kitchen or just about anywhere else you can think of buy this TV you wont regret it.

Background:
My wife bought me a 15.4" Polariod LDC TV for Christmas. We were both so disappointed with the picture that we quickly returned it. After looking at a lot of different TVs in the store and much research, I settled on this 15.6" Toshiba. The DVD player was not a factor because we already had one. Overall I am very happy with this unit. I would not hesitate to buy this TV again

Pros:
- Excellent viewing angle. I can look at this at almost any angle and get a very reasonable picture.
- I think the picture is wayyyy better than the Polaroid (junk). Actually it is excellent for this class of TV (note I said for it's class), but I do think that the colors are slightly off. I haven't had time to properly calibrate with a reference disc yet, but it's good enough now that it doesn't bother me and I'm accustomed to a properly calibrated Cinema series CRT TV in the living room.
- DVD player is a great bonus (and I like that it is slot-load, I think trays are too flimsy).
- Cabinet looks and feels nice.
- Sound is excellent for it's class
- I love the slot-load DVD player.
- 15.6" is just the right size next to the bed. Any bigger would strain my eyes.

Cons/complaints:
- The DVD player motor can be a bit noisy. I don't think it's any louder than a lot of home DVD players. It wouldn't bother me if I was across the room, but this set is not intended to be used close up so I think the player motor should be a bit quieter.
- Remote control should be back lit. I love the remote actually, It is pleasing to hold, weight is right, button layout and ergonomics are all good, (other manufacturers take note, this is how to do it right) I just can't read the buttons in the dark. This is my only complaint about it.
- Power light. Why did they make a huge, distracting light just below the picture? Okay, it's not that bad; one quickly adjusts to it and forgets it is there, but still, why? At night, I have a bright red LED pointed at my eyes when the TV is off.
- The AC cord plugs in behind a protective cover. This is not a complaint, just a question: Why did they think to provide a cover for the AC cord and leave nothing to manage the other dozen cables coming from the back? In my case the component cables were very loose (cheap cables provided by my cable company). I ended up tying them to the coaxial cable to prevent them from falling out and make the back look prettier.

This TV arrived in a timely fashion and was easy to set up. It is located in a kitchen and is just the right size for limited counter space. The picture quality is excellent, even with an indoor antenna. The tuner is a little slow when changing stations, but that is a minor inconvenience. I have had this tv for a couple weeks now and I am pleased with it so far.
Picture is very nice - the contrast is comparable to our 32 inch!! I bought this for the kitchen to replace an under the counter 7 inch that just died on us. This is a much better size - it would also work in a bedroom if it wasnt placed too far away. I didnt really think I needed the dvd player, but the price was too good to pass up when it was a gold box deal, however it plays music cd's with a nice menu with the tracks listed,etc - I like this feature. Very nice compact size also - I should add that I have this wired through av cables from our hdtv, so I am not sure if this makes the picture better or not, but it is such a nice clear picture!!!! I'm a OTR driver and use this television in my truck. I couldn't be happier. It fits wonderfully, tunes stations quickly, and the picture is crystal clear. So far, so good! Beautiful picture, especially on the HD channels. Sound very good for a small television. DVD player easy to manage. Very light weight and easy to move around. Highly recommended.
